Davis Langdon consultants have taken significant steps in the development of a Business Plan for the proposed Home of Football, including holding a recent public forum to seek football community feedback.

Twenty representatives from clubs, football organisations and the general community were present at the forum held at The Rise, Maylands last week.

Key attendees included some National Premier Leagues WA Presidents and Chairs of the State League, Junior League and Women’s League Standing Committees.

Lead consultant David Lanfear gave a comprehensive presentation, which can be viewed byInitiates file download clicking here, outlining the process of building a Business Case. He gave a commitment to consult widely to ensure the Home of Football facility served the sport immediately and during its growth over the next 20 years.

Among the key messages at the forum was a consensus for the development of a single site within 25km of the CBD rather than a number of metropolitan hubs. Further, it was emphasised that the site selection and development should not impact negatively on any club activities or benefits. There was also an understanding that partnerships should be developed with appropriate local government agencies to achieve the best outcome.

There was also emphasis on using the Home of Football as a hosting facility for country players and touring interstate and international clubs by building into the project onsite short-term accommodation. This is most likely to be included in a second-stage facility development.

A second public meeting will be held towards the end of July when potential sites and preliminary concepts are likely to be discussed.
