Aussies abroad from

May 20, 2016 By: Penny Category: World Football

This week saw the Bundesliga League wrap up, the NWSL hit the ¼ season mark, and plenty of other games that involved the Aussies.

The first game of the weekend saw heart break continue for Kyah Simon and the Boston Breakers who lost 1-0 to Sky Blue FC on an own goal.

Kyah Simon was close to scoring the tying goal, but had her header cleared off the line.

Sky Blue FC are still awaiting Sam Kerr to return from injury.

The Houston Dash took on NWSL leaders, the Washington Spirit, and lost 1-0 on an early goal.  Ellie Brush was an unused sub for the Dash.

Lydia Williams had 3 key saves to keep the Dash in the game.

The Western New York Flash and Orlando Pride squared off for the first time this season.  Alanna Kennedy and the Flash looked to hand the Pride their first home loss.  However, another superb defensive game from Steph Catley and Laura Alleway helped the Pride record their second shutout at home.  The Pride were also able to net a goal and beat the Flash 1-0.

The final NWSL game of the weekend was between rivals, the Seattle Reign and the Portland Thorns.  Hayley Raso entered the game for the Thorns in the 73rd minute and helped maintain the 1-1 tie.

The Bundesliga League came to a close this week which had Emily van Egmond andElise Kellond-Knight playing in their final games of the season for their clubs.

Van Egmond helped FFC Frankfurt beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0.  Since Wolfsburg also won this past week, Frankfurt ended up finishing in third place for the season, missing out on second place by one point.

Turbine Potsdam was able to finish their season with a win.  Kellond-Knight was a part of the team’s 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen.  Turbine Potsdam ended up taking sixth place in the Bundesliga League.

Tameka Butt and Mallbacken IF were able to bounce back from last week and win 4-0 over Piteå IF.

Ashleigh Sykes’s team, the AS Harima Albion, suffered a 1-0 loss to Sfida Setagaya FC.

Incheon HS Red Angels were able to beat Busan Sangmu 5-1 this past week, but fell 3-0 to Icheon Daekyo earlier in the week. Amy Jackson was an unused sub for Incheon HS Red Angels in both games.

Racheal Quigley came into the game for the Hwacheon KSPO in the 54th minute.  Unfortunately, Hwacheon lost 2-0 to Daejeon Sportstoto.

Suwon FMC lwon won 2-0 over Busan Sangmu and continue to be without Gema Simon who is injured.
